Château de Pontarion
Guardian of the centuries in the heart of the Creuse
Guardian of the ages, witness of mankind, I salute you.
Nestled in the heart of the authentic landscapes of the Creuse, the Château de Pontarion has stood, noble and discreet, since the 15th century. A medieval fortress, it has witnessed five centuries of history, of struggles and renewed peace, of seigneurial splendor and more modest times when only the wind and the river disturbed its stone silence.
A listed monument , it belongs to that shared heritage of which France is proud and which the world envies. More than a building, it is a testament in stone and memory, having survived the ages with the same dignity as its flamboyant counterparts, but with the endearing simplicity of the rural dwellings of the Limousin.
From its medieval ford to the bridge that now spans the river, the Château de Pontarion has witnessed the passage of pedestrians, farmers, horsemen, and carriages, right up to the vehicles of our time. Everyone still stops to contemplate it, or to capture in a photograph the emotion of these ancient walls and this gaze of stone turned towards eternity.

A suffering heritage, a call to generous hearts
Unfortunately, nature, usually so benevolent, can sometimes be cruel.
In March 2023, a tornado of rare violence ripped open my roof and damaged my ancestral timber frame , whose centuries-old woods had defied the ages.
Although the villagers were able to repair their homes, the Castle remains open to the elements, exposed to the ravages of time.
Today, it suffers in silence and finds itself at a crossroads: irremediable decline, or the rebirth offered by those who, attached to heritage memory and majesty, will choose to extend a hand to this part of our history.
Together , let's breathe new life into this relic of times past.
A Call for Preservation
Since 1936, the Château de Pontarion has belonged to my family.
Having entered the building out of a passion for stones, it was saved from ruin at the last minute by my great-uncle. Since then, generation after generation, we have been careful to preserve this witness to history, this piece of our shared heritage.
On March 9, 2023, a tornado severely damaged its medieval framework. Today, I appeal to all those who share a love of heritage:
Your support contributes to its preservation.
No roof without you.
