Contribute to the preservation of a listed castle (MH) severely damaged by the tornado by taking advantage of the benefits of tax relief.
Pontarion Castle, located in the Creuse department, in the heart of the Limousin region, is a heritage gem that has stood the test of time. Steeped in history, it embodies both the memory of the region and the potential for a future focused on culture, education, and the transmission of knowledge. However, the framework and roof require significant repairs following the natural disaster of March 2023.
The restoration program is currently underway, under the direction of heritage architect Christophe Gillet (DLAA.Archi), and essential work needs to be undertaken.
While the technical aspects are under control, the project's success now hinges on funding. To address the numerous questions raised by visitors during Heritage Days, here is a clear and concise overview of the various funding methods being used.
Sponsorship via La Demeure Historique
Patronage is a system regulated by the State, made famous after the fire at Notre-Dame de Paris.
For the Château de Pontarion, an official agreement (n 2025-801-R) was signed with the association La Demeure Historique, authorized to collect the funds

Tax exemption
Everything you need to know about tax deductions after making a donation.
Patronage (donations) entitles donors to a tax reduction in France and, under certain conditions, abroad.
For individuals:
66% tax reduction on the amount of the donation, up to a limit of 20% of taxable income.
For companies:
60% tax reduction on the amount of the donation, up to a limit of 0.5% of annual turnover.
The Demeure Historique receives your donations and pays the invoices within the limit of the funds collected.
It issues and sends a tax receipt allowing you to benefit from tax relief.
Family members up to the 4th degree are excluded from this scheme. Upon receipt of your donation, a thank-you card will be sent to you.
And if you wish, your name may be added to the donors’ wall for a total contribution exceeding €500.

Owning a listed historic monument comes with responsibilities.
The Regional Directorate of Cultural Affairs (DRAC) in Limoges has granted support covering 20% of the total cost of the works.
Preliminary budget for the works
Total works: €481,480
DRAC subsidy (20%): €99,296
Self-financing (20%): €99,296
Patronage / Donations (Target 60%): €288,888
Should there be a shortfall in the patronage contribution, the remaining amount will have to be covered by the owner-manager.
As an example, six months after the 2023 tornado, emergency weatherproofing works (temporary metal roofing) were carried out for a cost of €60,000
(DRAC subsidy: €10,000; self-financing: €50,000).
